The Beckhoff booth at the HusumWind trade show will focus on solutions for PC- and EtherCAT-based control technology. Software-based control systems not only offer high performance but integrate numerous functions on a standardised platform, resulting in significant cost benefits by making additional hardware unnecessary. The application of open industrial standards such as IEC 61400-25, Ethernet TCP/IP and OPC combined with the fact that the EON grid feed-in guidelines are supported results in high investment security for manufacturers.
New solutions that will be on show at the HusumWind trade show include the new TwinCAT 3 software generation and the seamless integration of condition monitoring into the EtherCAT Terminal system. A key feature of the comprehensive Bus Terminal range of more than 400 terminals for a wide range of signal types, including safety technology, is the certification for extreme climatic zones between -20 and +60 °C.

TwinCAT 3: eXtended Automation (XA)
For the first time at HusumWind, Beckhoff is presenting the new TwinCAT 3 software generation, with which the standard automation world is significantly extended. In addition to the object-oriented IEC 61131-3 extensions, the languages of the IT world are available in C and C++. Through the integration of Matlab®/Simulink® and Scada into the development environment, TwinCAT 3 offers a convenient tool for designing the controller software. The modules are executable in the different languages in a common runtime under hard real-time conditions, using multi-core technology and with 32- or 64-bit operating systems.

TwinCAT supports the IEC 61400-25 communication protocol with a PLC library for standardised communication in wind farms. The “TwinCAT Telecontrol Configuration” simplifies the configuration significantly.
